Jess Harris

SPEECH PATHOLOGIST

About Jess (She/Her)

Hi, I'm Jess - a neurodivergent Speech Pathologist and founder of Wildflower Connections.

I created Wildflower Connections to provide neurodiversity-affirming speech pathology for upper primary students, teenagers and young adults - a space where communication is understood, individuality is celebrated, and support is grounded in connection and collaboration.

I'm passionate about supporting neurodivergent people as they navigate communication, relationships, independence, and life's many transitions. For more than half a decade, I've had the privilege of working alongside many individuals, families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to support authentic communication, social connection, self-advocacy and everyday communication. What I've learnt is that meaningful progress doesn't come from expecting everyone to communicate the same way. It comes from taking the time to understand who someone is, how they communicate, what matters to them, and building support around their unique strengths, goals, and preferences. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming, with therapy that is tailored to each person's individual values and aspirations.

I also have a particular passion for supporting relationship education and dating - areas that are so often left out of the conversation for neurodivergent people, despite being such a meaningful part of life. I believe everyone deserves access to open, affirming conversations about consent, boundaries and healthy relationships, without shame or assumption.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me at the beach, heading to pilates, cuddling my Bengal cat Rocco, or spending time with family and friends.

Receiving my ADHD diagnosis as an adult in my late twenties completely changed the way I understood myself. Looking back, it gave me a new perspective on many of the experiences I'd had growing up and helped me recognise the importance of understanding, self-compassion, and support that honours the way each person's brain works. That experience continues to shape the way I work today, bringing curiosity, empathy, patience, and genuine respect for every person's individual journey.

While my lived experience informs my perspective, every person's experience of neurodivergence is unique. I never assume what someone needs based on a diagnosis or shared experience. Instead, I work collaboratively with each individual to understand their strengths, communication style, goals, preferences, and support needs.

Wildflower Connections grew from both my clinical experience and my personal journey. Over the years, I noticed that many neurodivergent adolescents and young adults were reaching some of the most socially and emotionally demanding stages of life with very little support that truly reflected their communication styles, strengths, and lived experiences. Friendships became more complex, independence increased, identities evolved, and expectations grew - yet many people were simply expected to "figure it out."

I wanted to create something different.

  • A space where people feel safe to be themselves.

  • Where communication differences are understood.

  • Where self-advocacy is encouraged.

  • Where strengths are recognised alongside challenges.

  • Where therapy feels collaborative, practical, and genuinely meaningful.

  • And where communication support builds confidence - not just in therapy, but in everyday life.

Because everyone deserves to feel understood, valued, and confident in being themselves.
