Wildflower Connections is a neurodiversity-affirming speech pathology practice for neurodivergent upper primary students, teenagers and young adults. We support communication, connection, and self-understanding in a way that is authentic, strengths-based, and shaped around the individual.
Everything we do is grounded in respect, collaboration and the belief that every person brings their own strengths, experiences and way of communicating.
About Us
Why Wildflower?
Communication is about so much more than words. It's about feeling understood, building meaningful connections, advocating for yourself, and participating in everyday life in ways that feel authentic and fulfilling.
At Wildflower Connections, we believe growth doesn't come from changing who you are - it comes from having the right conditions to flourish.
Wildflowers aren't expected to look, grow, or bloom in the same way. They flourish in their own time, adapting to their environment and contributing something unique to the world around them. What makes a wildflower special isn't that it conforms; it's that it thrives as itself.
Our approach is grounded in the belief that neurodivergent people don't need to be fixed or moulded into someone they're not. Instead, we work alongside each individual to better understand themselves, recognise their strengths, navigate challenges, and build the confidence, communication, and practical strategies that support meaningful participation in everyday life.
Wildflower Connections is a space for self-discovery, connection, and growth. A space where differences are valued, individuality is celebrated, and people are supported to flourish in ways that feel right for them.
Because every wildflower grows differently - and that's exactly as it should be.
Our Core Values
-
We support each person to have choice, voice, and control in their communication and goals.
-
We provide a safe, respectful and affirming space for all young people. This includes neurodivergent individuals and those who identify as LGBTQIA+. We recognise and respect each person’s identity, lived experience, and communication style, and we are committed to creating a space where people feel safe to be themselves without judgement.
-
We focus on existing skills, interests, and communication styles as the foundation for growth and connection.
-
Approaching each young person with patience and openness, taking time to understand their communication, experiences, and what supports them best.
-
We recognise the impact of lived experience and prioritise safety, trust, predictability, and emotional regulation.
-
We acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work. We are committed to providing culturally safe, respectful and responsive practice, and recognise the importance of listening, learning and ongoing reflection in how we support young people and families.
